A sculpted, almost primitive table, this icon of formal purity was first designed in 1985 by Lella and Massimo Vignelli and has now been revisited by Poltrona Frau. The graphical elements so characteristic of the work of the two designers are also clearly visible in the Mesa table, which combines the two simple geometric shapes of a circle and a cone. The top is composed of Ligurian slate which, thanks to the traditional splitting technique, retains the rock’s natural grooves and lines on the surface. The supporting column is made from grey Pietra Serena sandstone. The material value of the two elements is further heightened by their simplicity, creating the overall effect of a physical monolith which is solid and compact yet light at the same time.
